I'll be the first to admit that I'd been avoiding green smoothies. While I love smoothies, and I love greens, actually drinking greens just seemed weird. So I decided to kick off the new year by experimenting with adding greens to my pina colada smoothie. The only requirement was it still had to taste like a pina colada. While I didn't mind it being green, I really didn't want to taste the greens.

What makes this smoothie so good is the strong fruit flavors of pineapple and coconut. The pina colada flavor masks the taste of the spinach. That makes this simple green smoothie recipe so perfect for beginners. It's the best green smoothie to start with.

The coconut milk gives this smoothie it's creamy texture. And the pineapple adds sweetness so you don't need to add any sugar. Using frozen pineapple keeps it extra cold like a frozen pina colada. Of course, you can always add ice if you want a more frozen smoothie.

This 3-ingredient green smoothie is paleo, gluten-free, and dairy-free - with no added sugar and a bunch of leafy greens. And it still tastes like a pina colada. A great way to start a new healthy habit!

HI there - part of your Sits Tribe here! I' did almost three solid weeks of daily green smoothies, but am having to take a break until I figure out a food allergy I'm having. Bummer because they really helped with my sugar cravings. I'll give this one a try when I'm back!

Ann Marie, thank you so much for your kind words! When I first went paleo five years ago it was hard to find information and simple recipes. That's one of the reasons I started the blog - I'm so glad it's been helpful for you!

HI, I had a question- Could one replace the coconut milk with say, almond milk, soy, milk, regular milk, etc?

If you replace the coconut milk it won't taste like a pina colada.

Hi! This sounds delicious! Do you use canned coconut milk or the coconut milk in a carton (like almond milk)?

Love this! Can’t even taste the spinach. Tastes like a pineapple drink with a touch of coconut. Made it for a quick light breakfast this morning.
